Old plastic surgery tradition holds that neck rejuvenation cannot be achieved without a full facelift. Fortunately, this is no longer the case. It is entirely possible to improve the area under the chin, down the front of the neck and along the border of the jaw with minimal incisions as a stand-alone surgical procedure.
The neck is commonly the first area to show signs of aging. The jawline softens, jowls form, fullness appears under the chin, and vertical bands start to develop down the front of the neck. Through a small incision under the chin, repairs can be made to the support structures of the neck and fat can be tailored, reestablishing firmer more youthful contours while incisions hidden in the crease behind the ear are used to remove extra skin.
This minimal incision procedure can be done on an outpatient basis; you have surgery in an accredited surgical facility and sleep that night in your own bed. The recovery is less prolonged than that of a facelift, with return to a desk job a week after surgery. Results are long-lasting and natural looking.
The procedure can be further tailored to your specific anatomy. The best way to determine what approach suits your neck is to come in and meet with me. In your consultation, we will talk about your concerns and wishes for improvement and together, design the best treatment plan for you.
