DiVa Laser At ArtfulSurgery
diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy is a quick, three- to five-minute treatment that utilizes Hybrid Fractional Laser (HFL) technology to resurface the patient’s vaginal tissue. This is the first resurfacing laser of its kind using High Precision Automation (HPA) technology, which avoids manual positioning of the handpiece and provides higher accuracy, more uniform treatment, and improved safety. With its dual wavelength laser capabilities, treatment with diVa can be customized to the specific vaginal health concerns of each patient.

What Does diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy Treat?

diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy is ideal for those who have experienced decreased vaginal function due to childbirth, menopause, breastfeeding, hormonal therapy , cancer treatment (chemotherapy, pelvic radiation, hysterectomy) or other factors such as decreased estrogen levels that may have caused thinning and drying of the vaginal walls. Common issues that can be improved with the innovative treatment include:

For women suffering from insufficient estrogen production by their ovaries, diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy can be an effective alternative to estrogen therapies like pills, creams, gels, and patches.

Urinary Frequency

Urinary frequency is the urge to urinate frequently throughout the day and at night. Symptoms of urinary frequency may include:

  • Little volume during urination
  • Discomfort while urinating

Bacterial Vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis is the most common type of vaginal infection for women between the ages of 15 and up. Symptoms of bacterial vaginosis include:

  • Vaginal itching and irritation
  • Gray and watery discharge
  • Unpleasant odor
  • Yeast infections

Vaginal Wall Thinning

Vaginal atrophy is a condition where a woman’s vaginal wall becomes dry and inflamed due to decreased levels of estrogen. Symptoms of vaginal atrophy include:

  • Painful intercourse
  • Vaginal itching and dryness
  • Urinary incontinence
How It Works and What to Expect
A smooth vaginal dilator is inserted to hold the vaginal walls. Through the clear walls of the crystal dilator, the laser emits its dual wavelengths with standardized and controlled delivery. The resurfacing wavelength will smooth the internal walls of the vagina evenly as the laser head slowly spirals within the dilator. The heating wavelength is simultaneously emitted to induce strengthening and tightening of both the interior and exterior. The therapy leads to thickening of the vaginal mucosa and strengthening of the vaginal walls.
Patients can return to their normal daily activities immediately after treatment. They may experience minimal cramping and spotting.  There is little to no discomfort during the treatment, some women say they simply feel warmth.
Nothing should be introduced vaginally for 5 days. Three diVa treatment sessions spaced four weeks apart are typically recommended to achieve optimal results. For long-lasting results, follow-up treatments can be performed once every six to 12 months.
