Dysport®, the "New Botox?"
Posted July 19, 2009, 3:08 p.m.
Updated July 21, 2009, 1:28 p.m.

Dysport is here and I, for one, am really excited to have a competitor for the "Kleenex" of cosmetic Botulinum Toxin A, BOTOX Cosmetic. I have just taken the course to learn about the safety and use of Dysport and believe this product offers the same safety and efficacy as BOTOX Cosmetic. The studies show that Dysport works as well (maybe better) and lasts as long (maybe longer?) than BOTOX. So Dysport is ready to go and we have it. Come in and see what we can do about your frown! Tummy Tuck or Liposuction?
Posted March 16, 2009, 9:45 p.m.

Whether you need liposuction or tummy tuck depends on your goals and anatomy. Basically, liposuction removes fat deposits from under the skin. This procedure does not tighten or remove skin. If you have stretch marks, the deep layer of the skin has been torn by overstretching (as during pregnancy) and simply removing fat from under that skin will make you smaller but is likely to leave loose skin behind. Some people want to fit better in clothes and the loose skin is not of concern as long as the fat is gone. Liposuction also does not address the midline muscle separation (rectus diastasis) that can occur with pregnancy. In short, if your skin and muscle are in good shape, you may be a perfect candidate for a good result with liposuction. If your skin and muscle need some tightening, a tummy tuck might be a better choice. the purpose of a consultation with a plastic surgeon is to help you understand your options and what the surgeon would recommend based on your needs and why those recommendations are made.
